Global Day of Prayer ~ San Antonio

The Global Day of Prayer began as a movement in South Africa which has now spread to virtually every country of the world. The effort includes three parts: 10 days of constant prayer (May 1-10, 2008), a united city-wide prayer meeting (May 11, 2008), and 90 Days of Blessing the city as Christians join together to serve the community.

In 2007, San Antonio as a city joined this wave of prayer, meeting in the Alamo Convocation Center on Pentecost Sunday, May 27, 2007. More than 1200 Christians from across San Antonio, representing dozens of chruches and at least sixteen different ethnic groups joined hearts and hands to honor the Lord and to continue on a jouney to unite the Body of Christ in this city.

These volunteers painted park benches and tables in public parks, cleaned up streets in housing projects, and witnessed to dozens of people in street rallies. New relationships in the Body were forged, new friendships made, and Christians worked shoulder to shoulder without regard for race, social standing, or denomination.
